Kevin KolbKevin Kolb was drafted by the Eagles out of the University of Houston in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Hailed for three years as the successor to Donovan McNabb, his time as the Eagles franchise quarterback was derailed soon after it started due to a concussion, the same injury that has reoccurred multiple times since and is now threatening his career.
Kolb did achieve moments to remember, however, including setting an NFL record by being the first quarterback to pass for over 300 yards in each of his first two starts (against the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs in 2009). He also filled in admirably for Michael Vick, who replaced him as starting quarterback after just one game, when the latter got injured in 2010. Kolb led the team to back-to-back victories over the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons, both of which proved to be pivotal wins for a team that went 10-6 and captured the NFC East crown. In the ensuing offseason, the Eagles made a commitment to move forward with Vick as the franchise quarterback and traded Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals.
