Tweetcap: Improving Third-Down Defense

One of the areas where the Eagles will look to improve this week against New England is third-down defense. On Friday night against the Bears, the Eagles allowed Chicago to convert 10 out of 17 (59 percent) of its third-down opportunities.

Last season, the Eagles ranked 24th in third-down defense as opponents had a 40.3 percent success rate. The Eagles were very good at getting opponents into third-down situations. Philadelphia ranked tied for seventh as it faced 68 third-down situations of 10 yards or more. The only problem is that opponents converted 18 of those chances for a 26.5 percent success rate, 30th in the league.
