Biography

Not many youngsters realize their dream of playing in the NFL from the side of a garbage truck working for Waste Management, but David Sims is certainly one of them and is proud of his unlikely route to the NFL. Acquired in a trade with Cleveland prior to the start of the 2012 season, Sims added depth to the Eagles defensive back corps and special teams units in his first season with the team. Originally signed as a rookie free agent by the New York Giants in 2011, Sims spent the final five weeks of his rookie campaign on the Browns practice squad. After graduating from Gainesville (FL) HS, Sims worked several odd jobs before attending Butte Community College in California en route to a productive two-year career at Iowa State.
