Biography

A veteran of 10 NFL seasons with the Houston Texans (2012), St. Louis Rams (2007-11), Miami Dolphins (2005-06) and Seattle Seahawks (2004), Donnie Jones originally signed with the Eagles during the 2013 offseason and agreed to terms on a new three-year deal on March 11, 2014. He proved to be a difference-maker on special teams as he set the franchise record for net punting average (40.4) while downing a career-high 33 kicks inside the 20-yard line. A two-time All-Pro selection with St. Louis from 2008-09, Jones is also one of seven players in NFL history to record a 50.0 gross punting average in a single season, accomplishing that feat in 2008. Originally a seventh-round draft choice of the Seahawks in 2004, Jones finished his collegiate career ranked second in LSU history in gross punting average (42.0), while also finishing as the school’s all-time leader in total punts with 233.
